Singing Out With Pride! 30th anniversary concert

Over 800 loyal fans filled Llewellyn Hall for Canberra Qwire's special  30th anniversary concert “Singing Out With Pride!" on 11 November 2023 MCed by Zev Aviv.  

With alumni and friends, Qwire celebrated the beautiful and heartwarming stories of our community. with Qwire members recounting the special meaning that certain songs had for them.  With special guest and renowned folk singer, Judy Small, this concert was an unforgettable experience, blending uplifting music with joyous performances.  

Qwire was conducted by Musical Director Lachlan Snow, accompanied by Jessica Stewart on piano (her final concert as our accompanist).  Assistant Music Directors Karen Wilden and Leanne Linmore conducted pieces special to them 'May I suggest' and 'Hail Smiling Morn'.  The Ellery String Quartet toghether with Double bass player Hayley Manning did an awesome job bringing extra tones to Qwire's singing.  12 founding Qwire members, the '93ers sang 'Be who you are' showing how far Qwire has come.  And GLUB accompanied Qwire as we sang 'From Little Things Big Things Grow'.

And Judy Small sang : Sacred Ground, Influenced by Queers, Stand or Fall, and was accompanied by Qwire when she sang Everything Possible and Let the Rainbow Shine.  And she joined us also for Never Turning Back.
