Callum is in demand as a musical director, conductor, repetiteur, collaborative artist and soloist, and has performed across Australia and internationally. Highlights include broadcasts on ABC Classic FM and ArtSound Canberra, world premieres of new music and significant recording projects, such as Max-Peter Meyer's Dunera Mass, now in the permanent collection of the State Library of NSW.

Callum studied a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Pipe Organ performance and holds performance diplomas in classical piano. He is currently Musical Director of Canberra Qwire (proudly LGBTQIA+), where his queer reinterpretation of Purcell's Dido & Aeneas was awarded a 2025 Canberra Critics' Award for Music. In 2025, Callum was Chorus Master for National Opera, where he assisted in preparations for Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier and Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel.

His work as a repetiteur and associate artist has seen him collaborate with Luminescence Chamber Signers, Coro Chamber Choir, Pacific Opera and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. From 2018-23, Callum held the position of Organist & Director of Music at St Luke's Anglican Church, Mosman.

A multi-award-winning Musical Director, Callum's work has been recognised with Canberra Ovation awards for Outstanding Musical Director and Outstanding Orchestra.

Highlights as Musical Director include & Juliet (Free-Rain Theatre, 2026), Sweet Charity (Free-Rain Theatre, 2025), Tick, Tick Boom (ACTHub, 2024), The Boy from Oz (Free-Rain Theatre, 2024), The Little Mermaid (SYMT, 2023), The Sound of Music (Willoughby Theatre Company, 2023) and The Full Monty (Theatre&Co, 2019).

Outside the music world, Callum is a respected arts administrator and fundraising specialist, having worked at some of Australia's most respected cultural institutions, and he currently serves as a Board Director of Luminescence Chamber Singers.

Assistant Music Director:

Lenore Studdert

Lenore (she/her) is a proud alto and bisexual woman originally from Newcastle. She holds a B.Music from the University of Newcastle and works as a school music teacher.

Passionate about vocal music, she sings with The Jazz Vocal Group and is currently completing her Australian Kodály Certificate (Primary) through the Cuskelly College of Music. She also plays woodwinds for Free Rain Theatre and Queanbeyan Players.

A lover of folk, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and Sarah Vaughan, she is really enjoying being part of Qwire's vibrant and welcoming community.

Accompanist:

Hugo Temby

Hugo is a versatile multi-instrumentalist with experience across multiple classical and contemporary genres.

He holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Melbourne Conservatorium, where he studied under leading Australian pianist Geoffrey Tozer and early musician John Griffiths.

Hugo has worked as a chamber musician, composer, producer, and band leader, and is thrilled to become Qwire's accompanist in 2025, having joined the group as a chorister and assistant accompanist in 2024.

Sharwel Lei

Sharwel is a pianist, violinist, chamber musician and composer. They joined Qwire in 2023 as a singer, and now supports Qwire as an assistant accompanist.

Anne-Marie sings soprano and has been with Qwire since almost the beginning, minus a couple of years working interstate. She identifies as lesbian and has been in a partnership with Meg for over 30 years, and married her more than once!

Anne-Marie has been retired from full time work for quite some time and fills her life with gardening, protesting mainly about climate inaction, and supporting queer refugees.

She has been Convenor several times in the past. This time she expects to be making announcements at Qwire, facilitating committee meetings and working with our community partners.

Please familiarise yourself with our Treasurer. The job is a substantial one - responsible for tracking all revenue and expenses. The Treasurer is also the person who will be following up with members in regards to paying their membership fees.

Clare is the Convenor's right hand, and handles all administrative matters for Qwire including preparing agendas and minutes of our committee meetings, processing general enquiries received and generally assisting other committee members with administrative matters.

Marijke Henshaw

Our Music Librarian liaises with our Music Director and puts together our music packs as well as providing loans services to other organisations who may wish to borrow music from our library and also seek out music books for special numbers that we may be performing.

Events Manager:

Our Events Manager is responsible for managing Qwire's participation at public events and logistical arrangements for our concerts which include venue liaison, stage and technical support, budgets and ticketing.

Martin's role is to receive enquiries from people who would like to book Qwire, and to secure venues for our concerts and other activities.
