Lachlan is humbled to give back through music to his community as Qwire's Music Director. He's witnessed the power of the arts to create stronger communities, especially through celebrating the human voice! His natural enthusiasm and passion for choral music is evident and he is a confident arts communicator.
Lachlan's ethos for community music is that striving for musical excellence should be uplifting, energising and entertaining for all those involved both on and off the stage.
He holds opera performance and music teaching degrees from the University of Queensland and has worked with a range of community ensembles from wind bands and orchestras to handbells, mandolins and choirs. He is currently the conductor of the Barbarian Orchestra in Newcastle.
When not conducting, Lachlan is an arts and culture fundraiser working for Not For Profit creative writing centre Story Factory in Sydney. He's also currently studying an MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management within UNSW. Across all his pursuits Lachlan is driven to protect and grow equitable access and participation in arts and culture in Australia.
